This film will show the racial disparities in marijuana arrests across the US.
In every single state across the US African Americans are more likely to get arrested for marijuana than whites and all other nationalities. Despite studies that show blacks smoke marijuana at similar rates as whites, black Americans are prosecuted far more for small amounts of marijuana. Some cities and states have legalized it's use but in 2016 marijuana arrests outnumbered those of violent crimes according to a report by ACLU. Marijuana use is on the rise but people of color will continue to do the time.
